Meet Todd Sheeley
I’m Todd Sheeley (he/him), founder and owner of Inclusicare Therapy. I’m a gay man living in Fort Collins, Colorado, originally from North Carolina. I moved to Colorado ten years ago in pursuit of personal healing and self-discovery, and during that time earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Career Development from Colorado State University.
After graduate school, I worked as a school counselor in Adams 12 Five Star Schools and Westminster Public Schools, supporting high school students navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, social-emotional disabilities, LGBTQIA+ identity development, family conflict, trauma, academic challenges, and post-secondary planning.
While living in Northern Colorado, I became increasingly aware of the limited number of affirming and inclusive mental health services available to the LGBTQIA+ community. In response, I transitioned out of school counseling to establish Inclusicare Therapy, with the goal of creating a safe and affirming space for individuals seeking competent, identity-affirming care.
As my practice grew, I expanded services beyond Colorado to include Washington State, which marked an important evolution in both my work and my development as a therapist. Pushing myself beyond what feels familiar or comfortable has strengthened me clinically, deepened my cultural humility, and expanded my ability to sit with perspectives, identities, and life experiences different from my own. This growth has allowed me to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including clients who do not identify as LGBTQIA+ and those whose political or personal values may differ from my own.
My Story and Why
Yep. That’s gay, neurodivergent, little me. As a child, I navigated a challenging and multifaceted journey. Struggling with ADHD, anxiety, and the complexities of my own identity as a gay individual, I encountered numerous hurdles that shaped my perspective and fueled my determination. Alongside these challenges, I also faced the profound impact of traumatic experiences. These formative years were marked by a deep sense of empathy and resilience, as I learned to confront and ultimately conquer the obstacles life presented.
These early experiences were instrumental in my decision to become a therapist. I recognized the critical need for supportive guidance during these pivotal stages of life, where personal discovery and self-acceptance often intersect with adversity. My own journey instilled in me a profound sense of purpose-to be the advocate, mentor, and ally that I wished I'd had during my formative years. Today, as a therapist, I'm dedicated to helping youth and adults navigate their unique challenges, offering them the support and understanding they need to embrace their true selves, overcome adversity, and build a brighter future.
